Hello, joannamartinez!

The problem is worded very badly . . .

If a kitchen is to be 12 ft x 12 ft . [1]
and the sheets are purchased in sizes 4 ft x 8 ft . [2]
size of sheets needed are 3.8 in and 3.4 in sheets, . [3]
how many of each sheet is needed? . [4]

[1] I must assume that 12 x 12 is the size of the floor of the kitchen.

[2] These are plywood sheets, used to cover what?
. . .The floor? . . . and/or the walls? . . . and/or the ceiling?

[3] What is this . . . thickness?
. . .How does that affect the problem?

[4] If we are covering the walls,
. . we need to know the height of the kitchen.

If I could, I need some clarification. The objective is to build a kitchen that is 12x12. The suplyers sell a 4x6 feet section of wall for you to build your kitchen. But you want to use these 4x6 pieces by making small pieces of 3.8 by 3.4 inches. I feel like I am missing some information. Could you clarify by what the sheets are and why they are all different dimensions.

Thank You
