If 540 million metric tons is added to the atmosphere per
year and other fuels like gas is responsible for 35% of the carbon dioxide
emmisions, how much carbon dioxide is emitted by the other fuels (35%)? 100%-35%=65% so 65% x 540 =351 or 35% x 540=189. 540-189=351 millions of metic tons emitted. Is this correct? Please advise. Thank you.

So am I correct to say that the formula should be 35% x 540=189? The answer of 351 is not correct since I am not supposed to multiply the 65% x 540. Is that right? Please advise. I am trying to make sure I have it down correctly. Thank you.

.65 * 540 = 351 is CORRECT

35% is gas, so 65% is "others".
