The sum of two numbers is 24. The second number is 3 times the first number.

a. Write a system of equations that represents the information in (1.).
x + y = 24
and
y = 3x
Therefore x = 6 and y = 18

b. Solve the system of equations using the Substitution Method.

3y+y=24
4y=24
y=6

Since you know y=6, plug that into the x=3y to find what x is equal to
x=3(6)
x=18

x=18
y=6

c. Solve the system of equations using the Elimination Method. <----Not sure how to do this. Please help

Part a:
x + y = 24
y = 3x
That's all!

Part b:
x + 3x = 24
4x = 24
x = 6 ; y = 3x = 3(6) = 18
That's all!

Part c:
x + y = 24
3x - y = 0 ; add the equations together:
4x = 24
x = 6 : kapish?
