If an items total cost is 11.60 and the sales tax rate is 9.75% . What is the formula to calculate waht the tax amount is. I know it is a simple formula nad the correct answer is 1.03. But I can't remember the formula.

There is always sales tax (except for food and clothes, usually). How would you find 9.75% of $11.6 and add that to the price. Afterall, the state has to have its share. Have you ever calculated sales tax while standing at the check out?.
