I am asked to look at the system of equation problem below, decide what method I would use to solve and explain why I would use that particular method.
X = - a + 1
3a + b = 5

Teacher had a typo on site Just want to know which method I can solve the problem myself Appreciate any help THANKS

No, I have to solve the problem myself. I just don't know what method I need to use. was hoping someone could point me in the right direction. I can do the rest myself.

A system of equations - generally - has more than one equation.

You have posted only one equation.
