Need formula to solve this problem:

Mike has gathered 78 pears. Jane has gathered 56 pears. How many pears does Willie need to gather in order for them to equally divide pears into 12 bundles?

What do you get when you divide that number by 12? Is it evenly divisible by 12?

So what is the next larger number that is evenly divisible by 12?

So how many pears does Willie have to gather?

(134+x)/12=????... must be an integer ..

If you divide 134/12, it is not an integer. "x" is the smallest number you can add that will make the total divisible by 12.

134 \div 12 = 11\ remainder\ 2.

So the number must be more than 11 times 12.

What is the next whole number past 11?

What is 12 * 12?

How many pears must Willy gather to get there?
