Hey Forum!
This is my first post, so my apologies if its in the wrong board. Me and some friends are putting a package together for a good bud who has recently traveled abroad. We are trying to figure out the direct distance (through the earth) between Charleston, SC and Taipei, Taiwan. We are trying to find the direct path, get a sense of where the direct path falls through the different layers of earth's mantle and compare that to the surface distance. Its his birthday and he's a geologist, so he'd love this stuff.
I've looked all over and the math seems really complex. Does anyone have an idea or any helpful tips on how we can calculate this? Just out of curiosity, I'd love to know how to calculate this for any two Lat/Long points.
Anything would help.
Thanks!!
Alex
