For a project I was assigned some material to find the cost of college savings by going to a two year college first then a four year college versus just going to a four year college,
The equation for the two year college is y= -50x+3550 and the four year college equation is y= -476x+11851. X is the number of years after 2000 and y is the cost of college for that year. I am supposed to calculate for the years 2013 to 2016:so 13,14,15,16. To find the total savings I solved by plugging in 2013,14 into the two year equation and 2015,16 into the four and adding them. I did the same for the four year calculations but plugged in all four years into that equation. Then I subtracted the two to get a savings of $5100. It was correct but my teacher said I need to find another way to solve it using those equations. Please help me. Thanks.
