Ooh stats...

I have a set of 50+ possible paths my study species could have traveled on. They only used 7 of them. I have a 3-4 different characteristics about the land along the paths (possible and used), and am looking to figure out which characteristic(s) best predict which paths they chose to use. I did some basic mann-whitneys, and have figured out that two characteristics are more important, but I am looking to be able to say which is most important, or how important they are relative to one another.

Also, I might be interested in looking at interactions (i.e. their preference for field or forest might depend on how far of a distance it is).

I'm assuming I need some kind of ANOVA, but I'm not sure how to incorporate the sample vs. population aspect.

I can run the stats in R, Prism or Excel, whichever is suggested.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to provide! It's highly appreciated.
