Hi, I'm having a huge amount of trouble with this question:

"Write the equation of an ellipse centered at the origin that has a horizontal major axis e = 1/2 and 2c=1"

First off, what is "2c=1" I have never seen this before, is it telling me that c = .5? that makes no sense though, because e = c/a and according to that, c =1 and a = 2.

What do I do? ho do I go about this?

EDIT: Just now had the thought that e is the simplified form, meaning that c=.5 and a =1, which would mean that e =1/2
