I have to simplify this expression. I have broken it down step by step. What am I doing wrong?
x-2(xy-y)+4xy-x(3+y)
=1x-2(xy)-2(-1y)+4xy-1x(3)-1x(1y)
=1x-2xy+2y+4xy-3x-1xy
=1x-3x-2xy+4xy-1xy+2y
=-2x-5xy+y

I hope I haven't confused any of you. as a confused enough ll.

Good up to this point
=1x-3x-2xy+4xy-1xy+2y

Code:
=1x-3x -2xy+4xy-1xy +2y
=-2x + xy + 2y
or
= -2x + y (x + 2)
or
= x (y - 2) + 2 y

thanks all

thanks dennis and ishuda. I knew I was doing something wrong just couldn't figure it out. Thanks again and I now know where I can get help.
