I was given the problem y = 4 - 2x and was told to graph it.

but i am having a little bit of difficulty trying to graph it because of the negative next to the 2x

everytime i plug in a number for x, i keep getting these points...

17/4 (i used -2 for x)

-1/2 (i used -1 for x)

3 (i used 0 for x)

2 (i used 1 for x)

8 (i used 2 for x)

-4 (i used 3 for x)

i keep getting this weird looking graph, and im pretty sure it isn't right.

what am i doing wrong?

Something seems mixed up. Look at 2x for just a moment:
2-2 = 1/4; 2-1 = 1/2; 20 = 1; 21 = 2; 22 = 4; 23 = 8
so, subtracting each of those quantities from 4 would not give the same thing you have for all of the numbers although it would for some of them.

But i thought 2x was actually -2x , so you are saying that i should just ignore the negative when i am plotting points right?

Read the rest of the post! "subtracting each of those quantities from 4 would not give ..."
