Sorry if this is the wrong sub forum. I am not sure if this falls under Pre-Algebra or Algebra (the class I am taking is intro the college math).

An example of this would be how to solve

-3x- 7/3 = 4/3x - 7/4

How would I solve this? Do I subtract the 4/3x from the -3x? (I'm guess that would be -3/1x)?

I'm confused

Put all the terms with 'x' on one side and constants to the other side

-3x - 4/3 x = - 7/4 + 7/3

-9/3 x - 4/3 x = -21/12 + 28/12

- 13/3 x = 7/12

Now continue.....

I'm confused still where did the -9/3x come from and do you simply LCM the /4 and the /3?
