A hot air balloon rising straight up from a level field is tracked by a range finder located 5000ft from the liftoff field point. Express the balloon's height as a function of the angle of elevation theta.

it'd be inverse tan(x/(5000) right?
Would express as a function mean theta would have to be in the function?

it'd be inverse tan(x/(5000) right? ... almost but not quite ..see below

Would express as a function mean theta would have to be in the function? ... Yes

tan(Θ) = H/5000

H = 5000 * tan(Θ)
