Hi
I am in my first year of Masters of Computer Science. At the end of the course we are required to do some research.
I will be choosing Operating Systems, Programming Languages or Artificial Intelligence.
Now, I come to my question. We are being taught Probability. However, the definitions are unlike anything I have seen before. Sample space is denoted by omega. There is something called sigma algebra. Probability space is a tripe(omega, F, P).
Please tell me if the probability I know(which is the simple one like one taught at khanacademy) will be enough to pursue research in the areas Operating Systems or Programming Languages or Artificial Intelligence.
I can solve most sums of probability given in textbook so I am not able to figure out the reason why this is being taught.
Thanks and Regards
