Did you try polynomial division?

What are your thoughts?

Assume that a and b are coprime, and a = 259. Find the GCD of a2abb2 and a + b.
What is the definition of "coprime"? (here) What type of numbers must "a" and "b" then be? What is the prime factorization of 259? What does this tell you about "b"?

From beginning algebra, what do you know about the product of the two given algebraic factors? (here) How have you tried relating this to "a" and "b"?

Please be complete. Thank you! ;)
