lets see if I can write this

3/10+2/2/5y

should be vertical

multiply top and bottom by 5 is 23/10*5/1 reduced is 23/2 cancel the 2s gives 3

2/5y*5/1 gives 10/5y gives 2/y-----------------= 3/2/y. not even close

The way you wrote the problem - does not make sense. As written:

3/10 + (2/2)/5 * y

I am almost certain that it is not the problem statement.

Please repost the problem using proper grouping symbols.

The first term is the following fraction, right?

. . . . .\(\displaystyle \dfrac{3}{10}\)

But what is the second term? Fractions only have numerators and denominators; what is the third part of this term?

Thank you! ;)

I would guess: \(\displaystyle \dfrac{\;~2~\;}{\frac{2}{5y}}~?\)
