Absolute Value of |a-b|: state fcn w/o abs-value, max, min fcns

I need a non-piecewise function that does not use the min, max, or absolute value functions that is equivalent to |a-b|.

a and b are both positive
I need an exact function in simplest form.

Have you considered working from the definition of "absolute value"? (here) ;)
