Im not sure where to start with this
What is the innermost function or operation or "piece" of what they gave you? Of what function or operation or "piece" is that inside? What is the outermost function or operation or "piece"?

Using this information, along with what you've learned about how composition of functions wraps one function "around" another, how can you relate this to the desired de-composition?

Please reply with all of your thoughts and efforts so far. Thank you! ;)

a) \(\displaystyle f(x)=\sqrt{x},~g(x)=\tan(x),~\&~h(x)=3x^2+1\)

b) \(\displaystyle f(x)=\sqrt{x},~g(x)=\tan(x^2+1),~\&~h(x)=\sqrt3~ x\)

Can you show that a) \(\displaystyle f \circ g \circ h(x)\) answers your problem in both cases.
