As Ben walks between a stop sign and a convenience store he walks at a constant speed covering 300 feet in 50 seconds.
How long has Ben been walking as...

  1. his distance from the stop sign increases from 0 to 150 feet?
  2. his distance from the stop sign increases from 10 to 160 feet?
  3. his distance from the stop sign increases from 150 to 300 feet?

These questions don't make much sense, since they're asking for one walking time ("how long") over an interval (which would be a time interval, not a time). At a guess, get the times for the beginning and end, and provide this info, plus the time interval for the walked interval.

At zero distance, how long had he been walking? So what time is this?

At a distance of half his total, how long had he been walking? (Hint: Divide by two.)

Over what number of seconds, then, had he been walking?

Using the rate from the first part, how long did it take him to walk the first ten feet? This is your starting point.

You already know how long it takes to walk half the distance. (Hint: Copy from above.) So what is his ending time?

Then what is the time interval?
