Hi,
I'm from Australia and we don't use fractions here for measuring.
At school it is taught how to add and multiply fractions.
When measuring, say a pieces of wood for a project, is adding or multiplying fractions done a great deal.
If yes, is it troublesome or do you use common denominators frequently to make it easier or whatever other method is used.
This is more of a curious question as I am studying to be a math tutor and want to be able to explain alternative methods and why.
Thanks for any help.
Chris.
