4. Determine the length of each altitude of an equilateral triangle whose sides are S units in length. Determine the area of the same triangle.
 
Well... an altitude makes a 90 degree angle, and all equilateral triangles have 3 60 degree angles. So, the triangle that is formed when you draw in your altitude will be a 30-60-90 triangle. If you remember, 30: X 60: X sqroot(3) 90: 2X, you should be able to figure it out.

Do you know what S is?
