graph help

Hello. I am working on a problem identifying intervals and I am stuck on this one.

The graph looks like this:

The directions are to: Identify the intervals where the function is changing as requested.

(Increasing)

Now the part I am confused about is that I don't know if it is (-2, 2) or (-3, 3). I just dont know which would be the answer in this situation and I don't know of any equation that helps me figure that out.

when asked for intervals where a function is increasing or decreasing, intervals of x is the proper response.

the function shown is increasing on the interval (-2, 2).
