a-577 miles
b-1,428 miles
c-476 miles
d-68 miles
my son answered 476 miles. but teacher said it was wrong.
the teacher said 1,428 is the correct response.

If your post is correct, then your son is correct.

But somebody should tell Tatiana's mom/dad to slow down (unless they are driving in Nevada).

The teacher would be right if they traveled 204 miles in 1 hour. But that's not what the problem says and I wouldn't call it driving.

Clearly the teacher is wrong. If Tatiana drove for 9 hours, then she traveled for 3*204 = 612 < 1428.

If they drove 204 miles in 3 hours then in 7 hours they drove (7/3)(204)= 7(68)= 476 miles. You could also calculate that they were driving at 204/3= 68 miles per hour.

From where did you get that?

Because all you'll hit in Nevada is cacti.

Since 9>7 one would expect that you would have driven further in 9 hours, than 7 hours! I picked 9 hours since it is larger than 7, the miles driven was easy to compute and the miles for 9 hours was less than the miles the teacher got for 7 hours.
