Sometimes it's helpful to start with an easier problem and work your way up, to see if you can find a pattern. Let's assume Bella picks just one page. It can either have one journal entry or two journal entries. So, there are only two arrangements. Now let's assume Bella instead picks two pages. Each of them can have one entry or two entries. If the first page has one entry, then the second page can have one or two entries. Similarly, if the first page has two entries, the second page can have one or two entries. How many total arrangements are there then? How did you figure out that answer? If Bella picks 3 pages, how many arrangements do you expect there to be? Maybe make a list of all the possible arrangements. Does it match your prediction? Are you starting to see a pattern? What does that suggest about the number of arrangements if Bella picks 10 pages?
