Solve the following system by solving one of the equations for x or y and then using the substitution method. x,y

x-4y=-8
x-2y=0

Solve the following system by substitution. Substitute the expression in the second equation into the first equation and solve. x,y

4x-5y=13
y=-y+1

Solve the following system by substitution. Substitute the expression in the second equation into the first equation and solve. x,y

9x-y=10
y=-9x+6

I am not sure if you asked a question and that was even after looking at your post twice.
Did you try working out any of the problem you posed? If yes, then can you please show us your work. This is a math help forum where volunteers help students solve their problems rather than doing the problems for them.

Actually there was a question and it was in the title

Linear eqautions

Hi

I was trying to solve these problems but I erased the solutions I was working on. I understand if you can not help because of this.

I'll help with the 1st one so you can solve the others.
x-4y=-8
x-2y=0

When you subtract two terms and get 0, then the terms are equal to one another.
So if x-2y=0 then x=2y. Plug in this new way of writing x (2y) into the 1st equation.
So x-4y=-8 becomes 2y-4y = -8.
Since 2-4=-2 we have 2y-4y=-2y.
So -2y=-8.
No ask yourself 2 times what equals -8. This answer, which is 4, will equal y. So y=4.
Now we solve for x.
We can use any one of these equations to solve for x: x-4y=-8, x-2y=0 or x=2y. Since x=2y starts off with x = we will use this equation.
So x=2y, ie x = 2 times y. Since we know y=4, then x = 2 times 4 or 8.
The answer is x=8 and y=4.
I hope this helps.
