If I were to do this assignment,

I'll first define FIND variables as,

R = cost of Refrigerator

W = cost of Washer

D = cost of Dryer

Now write linear equation with those variables and GIVEN conditions in the problem statement.

You could subtract $250 from $1800 giving you $1550.
This basically makes the cost of the refrigerator the same as the washer. The cost of the dryer is half the cost of the washer.
Let w = cost of the washer
Then $1550 = (2 1/2)w. Now find w.
