Relocating two offices under one roof

Tabled below is the current area occupied by the two different offices in Building 1 and Building 2 respectively.

	Area​
Building 1 (where office 1 is located)	12 000 ft2​
Building 2 (where office 2 is located)	10 000 ft2​
Total	22 000 ft2​

It has been decided to move to a new building whereby both offices together under one roof will occupy an area of 50 000 ft2.

Based on the above data calculate:

The floor area that will be occupied by only Office 1 in the new building.

Total area (Tn) occupied - now - by these two offices = 22 000 ft2

What fraction of Tn is occupied by Office 1 = (12 000 ft2/22 000 ft2) = 6/11

What fraction of Tn is occupied by Office 2 = (10 000 ft2/22 000 ft2) = 5/11

My Answer (which I am unsure of)

Floor Area which will be occupied by Office 1 = (6/11) * 50 000 ft2 = 27 272.7 ft2

That would be my answer too.

Are you supposed to answer the problem with proper significant digits?

If yes, then the answer should be 27000 ft² for office 1 and 23000 ft² for office 2.
