Hi, I'm in high school geometry. Can someone please tell me if I did this right...

Question: AD= 2x+11
DB+ 4x-5

x+.....
AB=......

In the figure I included , CD bisects AB at D. Find the value of x and the measure of the segments.

(okay that was just the question)

The work I did, this is everything I have written down:

2x+11
4x-5 = 6x+6

2x+11=4x-5
-2x=-16
x=8

2(8)+11 = 27
4(8)-5= 27

AB = 27

Did I do this right????????

DB+ 4x-5 Typo

x+..... Typo

4x-5 = 6x+6 I don't understand 6x + 6

2x + 11 = 4x - 5 This is good

x = 8 This is correct

2(8) + 11 = 27 Yes, so AD = 27

4(8) - 5 = 27 Yes, so DB = 27

AB = 27 This is incorrect

27 + 27 = 54

I don't really understand how I got that wrong.... could you maybe explain how thats not the right answer?

Your 27 for AD and your 27 for BD are correct.
However, AB is the SUM of AD and BD, so 27+27 = 54 ; are you tired ? :wink:

THANKS SO MUCH. And yes, lol I was tired. Now i just have to do about 50 others problems like that :|
