I'm doing my math homework and I need help on this problem
Solve the word problem by setting up a system of equations: For a play at the local library, 234 tickets are sold. Adult tickets cost $2.50 and children's tickets cost $1.50. In all, $259.50 was collected in ticket sales. How many of each type of ticket were sold?

The equations I got were x+y = 234 and 2.50x+1.50y=259.50
My solution doesn't end up being an integer which is why I think I am wrong.

The exercise statement as posted is flawed.

Your equations are correct, using the given information, but the solutions don't make sense.

Make sure that you copied the information correctly.
