When given a function of 4? + ? − 16 = 0, what is the best way to get p by itself? Thanks in advance :)

To learn how to solve equations of this type (called "literal" equations) for the specified variable, first study how to solve one-variable linear equations (here). This will teach you the basic terms and techniques, so, for instance, you'll know how to get started with the "16" in the posted equation. Then study literal equations themselves (here). This will give you experience with this particular type of linear equation.

Once you have studied at least two lessons from each list, please attempt the exercise. If you get stuck, you can then reply with a clear statement of your thoughts and efforts so far, at which point we can begin to work with you. Thank you! ;)
