Abstract Algebra - finding a permutation

Hi there, I am struggling with this question for quite some time now.
I have tried multiplying the "mu" by its inverse and that just gives me "e".
I can't seem to get it to be equal and would love some assistance.
I have tried expanding out the permutations and I still can't see what I need to do next.

Some books are different so can you please tell us how you would compute a product of two permutation. Also show us some of your work so that we know where/how to help you.
