Algebra problem.

From 4e you want to subtract 3(2e-2). Now before you subtract you need to know what you are subtracting. 3(2e-2) = 6e -6. So we need to subtract 6e-6 from 4e. That we need to compute 4e - (6e-6) = -2e + 6. Now -2e + 6 = 3(e+8) = 3e + 24. That is -2e + 6 = 3e + 24 or 5e=-18. So what doe e equal?
 
If, as you appear to be saying, you have never taken an introductory algebra course, where did you get this problem?
