can't figure out the steps and solution to 1.8x - 5 = 4.3x - 7.75 help please!!!

\(\displaystyle Isolate \ x \ and \ then \ solve.\)

\(\displaystyle Just \ remember, \ an \ equation \ is \ like \ a \ balance, \ if \ you \ take \ away \ something \ from\)

\(\displaystyle one \ side, \ you \ must \ take \ the \ same \ "something" \ away \ from \ the \ other \ side \ to \ keep\)

\(\displaystyle the \ "scales" \ balance. \ The \ only \ exception \ is \ you \ can \ multiply \ one \ side \ of \ the \ balance\)

\(\displaystyle by \ one \ and \ leave \ the \ other \ side \ alone, \ since \ you \ haven't \ change \ anything.\)

\(\displaystyle 5 \ = \ 5, \ (5)(1) \ = \ 5.\)

Always a good idea to get rid of decimals; multiply by 100:
180x - 500 = 430x - 775 ; follow that?
Get the x's together:
430x - 180x = 775 - 500 ; can you finish it?

2x=11 sketch the graph

The graph is a vertical line.

Solve for x, to find the intercept.

y=5x-10 sketch the graph

Plot the y-intercept at (0, -10).

Draw a line with slope 5/1, through this point.
