Suppose we have three points (2, 7), (3, 14), and (4,23). Let us rewrite the third point as (4, k) for what values of k will convert the quadratic equation into a linear equation.

I have tried to setup and solve the system of three equation and got the quadratic equation [math]y=x^2+2x-1[/math]After this point i'm a little confused. Could someone kindly help me please.

got the quadratic equation y=x^2+2x−1
Hi Perji. That is correct, but the question doesn't ask for it.

The graph of a linear relationship between x and y is a straight line. Find the equation of the line passing though the two known points. Use that equation to find the value of y when x is 4. In other words, the point (4,k) is on the line.
