Hello, daleross9!
The distance between the points (-8, 2) and (8, 4) is __.
I am confused. I am getting 2 answers, which one is it?\(\displaystyle \;\;\) . . . neither!
4(171/2) and 2(341/2) \(\displaystyle \;\) What are these?
On this planet, the Distance Formula goes like this:
Given two point \(\displaystyle P(x_1,\,y_1)\) and \(\displaystyle Q(x_2,\,y_2)\)
\(\displaystyle \;\;\)the distance \(\displaystyle \overline{PQ}\) is given by: \(\displaystyle \:\sqrt{\left(x_2\,-\,x_1\right)^2\,+\,\left(y_2\,-\,y_1\right)^2}\)

And "I got 6(21/2)" still doesn't make sense.
If that's the answer (the distance), why didn't you multiply them?
\(\displaystyle \;\;\;6\,\times\,\frac{21}{2}\:=\:63\)
If it means something else, it's like no symbols we've ever heard of.
