Hi!
Can anyone help me out on this question...
300y=23t-44180 (t equal to or greater than 1950, equal to or less than 2010)

Find the global population at the start of 1960 according to this model.

The equation is meaningless without definitions. I can guess that t represents the year; but is y the global population (of what) at the start of that year?

Also, since you mentioned exponentials, I wonder if perhaps you meant something like 300y=23t-44180 .

Please follow our guidelines, which include stating the entire problem, as well as telling us where you need help:

You titled this "exponentials" but there are no exponents. Did you mean 300y= 23^t- 44180 or 300y= 23^(t- 44180) or 300^y= 23t- 44180 or 300^y= 23^t- 44180 or 300^y= 23^(t- 44180)?

And, as Dr. Peterson said, you have not said what "t" and "y" represent. We might guess that "t" is the year and "y" the population in that year is but we should not have to guess!
