Click to expand... since this is a factoring problem, lets start with finding the factors. . \(\displaystyle x^2+3x=10\) \(\displaystyle x^2+3x-10=0\) this is of the form\(\displaystyle AX^2+BX+C\) suppose the roots are a and b. \(\displaystyle a+b=B\) \(\displaystyle a*b=A*C\) in this case, \(\displaystyle a+b=3\) \(\displaystyle a*b=-10\) factors are \(\displaystyle (x+a)\) and \(\displaystyle (x+b)\) values for x would be -a and -b.
