The question is this : Find the Fahrenheit temperture of hot tap water at 70*C by solving the equation
70=5/9(F32)

this is what I had done

take 70 divided by 5/9 I got .55 so I took that F 127-32=95F so 95F is my final answer. however my classmate has instructed me that he took
70=5/9(f-32) and apply the dist. property 70=5/9F-160/9 he then multiplied the entire equation by 9 to get rid of the fraction which gave him 630=5f-160 which gave him =158.
who is correct? and what is the formula if possible

Re: Fahrenheit Temp

angel, 70 divided by 5/9 = 126, not 127 ; but you were close!
SO: F - 32 = 126 ; add 32 to both sides:
F = 158

Your classmate is correct.
