Hi there, I have spent a long time on this problem today which I cannot solve. I would really appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction.

note: M-N is parallel to O-B

I can't solve the problem with the resulting expressions. What am I doing wrong?

Thanks in advance,

James

Note that [imath]\overrightarrow {ON} = \overrightarrow {OM} + \overrightarrow {MN} [/imath]
Also there are scalars [imath]\delta~\&~\gamma[/imath] so that [imath]\delta~\overrightarrow {a}=\overrightarrow {OM}~\&~\gamma\overrightarrow {b}=\overrightarrow {MN}[/imath]
Thus [imath]\overrightarrow {ON}=\delta~\overrightarrow {a}+\gamma\overrightarrow {b}[/imath]
