graph both sides of the equation, and observe the point of intersection (if it exists) to verify the solution:

I don't get what graphing both sides of the equation means? Can you explain why the below graph is the answer?

Where do these 2 lines come from?
 
The left hand side of the equation has many points. The right hand side of the equation has many points.
Where the two curves intersect, if in fact they do intersect, are/is the point(s) that satisfy the equation.

You are basically being ask precisely when does log9(x) - 5 equal -4
