(x+3)(x^2+2x+1).

I'm supposed to factor the above equation but I don't know where to start. Could you also show me the steps so I can learn how to factor this kind of problem?
Thanks in advance

Normally 'expand', as in your title, means to multiply the two terms. If that was what you intended, use the "distributive law". (x+ 3)(x^2+ 2x+ 1)= x(x^2+ 2x+ 1)+ 3(x^2+ 2x+ 1). Can you do those mutiplications?

If you really do mean "factor", x+ 3 cannot be factored but x^2+ 2x+ 1 can. Recall that (x+ a)^2= x^2+ 2ax+ a^2 and compare that with your expression.
