How to prove

You will need to use the distributive laws, a(b+ c)= ab+ ac and (a+ b)c= ac+bc:
(x-y)(x+y)=x(x+y)- y(x+y) (Distributive law)
= x^2- xy- xy+ y^2 (Distributive law again)
