Annie ordered 38 pizzas for the class party. Small pizzas cost $9.00 and Large pizzas cost $12.50. If the total bill was $415.50, how many small pizzas did Annie order?

This is what I have so far:

Let p represent the number of small pizzas.

p($9.00)+n(12.50)=$415.50

am I right so far??

What does "n" represent?

I will guess that your one equation represents the "cost". But where do you account for the "number" (namely, thirty-eight)?

Thank you.

Eliz.
