Need to calculate how many hours it would take to reach $300,000 if each hour is worth $600...

I really suck at math and every time I try to figure it out my brain goes blank & shuts down.

I was taking geometry as a senior in high school for goodness sake. Just sad...

Thank you for any help given!!

\(\displaystyle \frac{\$600}{1\text{ hr}}=\frac{\$300,000}{x \text{ hrs}}\)

Solve for [imath]x[/imath].

Keeping it very simple:

How many times would you have to add $600 to a pile to get $300,000?

That is, what number times 600 equals 300,000?

This is a division problem. (Calculators are allowed.)

1 hr =$600
2 hrs = 2*$600
3 hrs = 3*600

Suppose the answer is x hours

x hours = x*$600 = $300,000
What do you multiply 600 by to get 300,000 is the real question.
You can do trial and error or you can do long division.

x= 300000/600 = 3000/6
6 goes into 30, 5 times. Now how many times does 6 go into 3000
