I ran into a question that simplified an equation, and I don't understand how it was simplified. I went to mathpapa.com and it simplified it the same way (screenshot attached). Nevertheless, I don't understand how the top equation in the screenshot simplifies to the bottom equation in the screenshot. Specifically, I don't know where l^4 comes from (my intuition says it should be left as l^2). Any help would be appreciated.

L^2 = L^4/L^2

my intuition says it should be left as l^2. So you think that L^2 is the same as L^2/L^4??? I always thought that L^2 = L^2/1

Usually when you get a common denominator the numerator changes!
