Hi guys, brand new here.

For the life of me I am struggling to figure out how they manipulated this equation to get the end result of y1= (vo-v1). Help please!!
2g

They did not report

y1 = (vo - v1)/(2g)

They reported:

y1 = (vo2 - v12)/(2g)

Watch those squares!! Also they assumed yo = 0

Thanks! Wasn’t sure how to add the exponents on the forum.

Still not sure how they got this.
Are you working with "paper & pencil" or staring at the screen?

Isolate y1 - and answer should almost fall-off ......

I am self taught algebra over past 4 months so if I am lacking it’s just my learning curve. As all this question is just isolating the variable to solve

I think I might have isolated it properly. Can you tell me if I have done this correctly? Thanks for help. This is my working below since adjusting properly for y0= 0
