You have two balanced, six sided dice. The first has 1,3,4,5,6 and 8 spots on its six faces. The second die has 1,2,2,3,3, and 4 spots on its faces.
a) what is the mean # of spots on the up-face when you roll each of these dice?

b) write the probability model for the outcomes when you roll both dice independently.

Can anyone help?

What have you done to try and work these?

Tell us how one finds the mean is part a.
Recall each side has probability (1/6).

Show what you have done or tell what you don't understand.

How does your textbook define mean?
It should be: sum of the (outcome value)*(outcome probability).
So one in part (a) is (1+3+4+5+6+8)(1/6).
What is the other one?

Sorry gave you the mean to the wrong problme, my head is fried with Stats! I will do the other mean!
