I need to simplify and write in positive exponents only. Hopefully I am using the parenthesis right this time.

[(x^2)^-3(x^-2)] / [(x^2)-4]

[x^-6)(x^-2)] / (x^-8)

(x^-8) / (x^-8)

and this is were I get confused.

x^-8-(-8)=x^-8+8 = x

is this the correct?

x^-8-(-8)=x^(-8+8)....................................Correct uptil here

= x^0 = 1

is this the correct?
