A Carpenter uses the following formula to determine the weight W (in Pounds) of a log that has the length of d feet.

W=14d

If the carpenter cuts 2 feet off the length of the log, which statement describes how the weight of the log will change?

A.The weight will decrease by 7 pounds
B.The weight will decrease by 12 pounds
C.The weight will decrease by 16 pounds
D.The weight will decrease by 28 pounds

This is a problem for my son and we have been out for so long things do not quite make sense. I think d but am not at all sure. Please help

Re: word problem

You are correct, it's d. Because 14(d-2)=14d-28
